so hard to stick to limits

So I started a spreadsheet for the gifts that I've bought for my Secret Pal. So many things that I want to send... and $50 turns out to be not very much stuff. Must. Be. Frugal. I have $13 left from the original goal of $50... that would barely cover shipping. Maybe some stash stuff? I feel bad sending old acrylic that I don't want though, even if she *is* a new knitter. Its supposed to be fun, but now I'm feeling like I've overspent early on and that the pile of gifts isn't very satisfying. Maybe after the knitpicks stuff arrives it won't seem so heavy on the reading material. Any ideas?
